About The Balkan Situations

The Balkan Situations had a temporary reunion on Saturday, May 3rd, 7-8pm EST, broadcast live on-air at 91.1 FM WFMU in the New York Metropolitan area. The program was archived and can be streamed over the internet at www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/27134.

*Update: Four members of the Balkan Situations have reunited as The Situations. You can find us playing Thursday and Friday evenings, 6-9pm, at Typhoon Restaurant, 344 Main Street, Middletown, CT. Our repertoire has expanded beyond our Balkan roots to include Russian, jazzy, and funky songs.

The Balkan Situations are a nine-piece band, based in Middletown, CT. We play traditional and popular music from Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey with a few tunes from Cambodia and Thailand thrown-in for good measure. You can find us playing every Friday evening, 6-9pm, at Typhoon Restaurant, 344 Main Street, Middletown, CT.

The Balkan Situations have now dispersed across the globe and fall asleep each night, dreaming of reunions…if you’d like to contact us about a reunion gig, please send us an email or a courier pigeon.

    I read your posting on craigslist but the email was rejected by the server. I’m a local C’ville musician playing violin, mando, guitar, balalaika, bass, etc..

    This music really touches my heart!! I would really like to get in contact with folks playing Balkanian(?) music here in Europe. Mainly people that lives in the Balkan area, as I’m planning a journey to either Hungary or Bulgaria next spring/summer (I’m from Norway). I would really appreciate it.
